Davis was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the South Central area. His grandmother and guardian, Lela Nicholson, was instrumental in encouraging him to play basketball. With his encouragement, he finally enrolled at Crossroads School, a prestigious private school in Santa Monica.
As a senior at Crossroads, Davis led his team to the Beach Ball Classic tournament championships in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, above the annual preparatory power plant of Simon Gratz High School ([Philadelphia, Pennsylvania]), while receiving an MVP award and a place in the Team All-Tournament with St. The upcoming Erick Barkley at the prestigious tournament. College career
After a highly contested recruiting battle that saw Kansas, Georgia Tech, Duke, and UCLA in pursuit for his service, Davis chose UCLA as his school of choice, so he could play in front of his family and friends. During this time, Davis was involved in a small controversy over the 1991 Chevy Blazer which was a gift from his sister, then a UCLA employee. The car was sold to him by a Jim Harrick family member. At the time, Harrick was the UCLA male basketball coach, presenting a conflict of interest and potential for recruitment violations, as rumors said that the car was bought below market prices. The controversy subsided when it was discovered that sister Davis, in fact, bought the car at the price of the blue book listed. Davis then enrolled at UCLA in 1997 without any problems. In 1998, Davis was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and made the Third All-America Third Team in 1999.
In Davis's two years at UCLA, he averaged 13.6 points and 5.1 assists for the Bruins. While dropping from a dunk during the first NCAA Tournament of his first year, he injured his knee and tore the anterior anterior ligament (ACL). Surprisingly, though, he made a full recovery next season and appears to have regained almost all the speed, speed, and explosion he had before injury while doing enough on the basketball court to assure his statement for the 1999 NBA draft after the sophomore campaign.
Professional career
Charlotte Charlotte (2002-2002)
Davis is the third choice in the 1999 NBA draft by Charlotte Hornets. In the NBA debut, a 100-86 win over the Orlando Magic, Davis scored nine points, and added five rebounds, two assists and two steals. In Davis's first year, he supported Eddie Jones and David Wesley, when the Hornets lost in the first round of playoffs to the 76ers in four games.
Davis saw better success the following year, as the averages in points, assists, steals and minutes per game all improved and he started all 82 games for the Hornets. Davis led the Hornets back into the playoffs, and swept the Miami Heat before being beaten by Ray Allen's Milwaukee Bucks in seven games in the second half. Davis is credited with making the longest shot in NBA history at Bradley Center on February 17, 2001, when he buried an 89-foot shot with 0.7 seconds left in the third quarter against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The following season, Davis re-started all 82 games while averaging 18 points and 8.5 assists per game. He was also chosen as an injury substitute for Vince Carter in the 2002 NBA All-Star Game. The Hornets made a playoff with Davis for the third time in years, but after defeating Tracy McGrady, led by Orlando Magic in the opening round, they were eliminated in the second half by New Jersey Nets led by Jason Kidd.
In the summer of 2002, the Hornets moved from Charlotte, North Carolina, to New Orleans. In the inaugural New Orleans Hornets season, Davis suffered several injuries which kept him limited in just 50 matches. He can still lead the Hornets back into the playoffs, but they will fall to Philadelphia 76ers-led Allen Iverson in the first round. Iverson then described Davis as the most difficult defensive task of his career. The following season saw similar results, Davis limited injury to 67 games and the Hornets were ousted in the first round of the playoffs by Miami Heat Dwyane Wade.
The Hornets made a playoff in Davis's five-year-old with the team, and only advanced past the first half in two years he started every game. After Davis traded to Golden State, New Orleans failed to make the playoffs for three consecutive years. He played for the US national team at the FIBA ââWorld Championships â ⬠<â ⬠<2002.
Golden State Warriors (2005-2008)
On February 24, 2005, Davis traded from the Hornets to the Golden State Warriors to Speedy Claxton guards and veteran forward Dale Davis after tensions with the Hornets' coaching staff and some disturbing injuries. The move creates one of the stronger backcourts in the NBA with Davis and guard star Jason Richardson. It also saw Davis return to California, where he wants to return since his college at UCLA.
After two seasons where the Warriors underachieved under coach Mike Montgomery, the Warriors hired former coach Don Nelson for the 2006-07 season. Its high offensive system is designed to match Davis's up-tempo style. Despite Davis suffering through knee pain and undergoing surgery during the season, he still leads the Warriors to their first playoff appearance since 1994. The Warriors swept the regular season series against the Mavericks 3-0, giving them an edge and winning the series against the top-seeded Dallas Mavericks 4-2, making them No. 1 seed 8 to beat the No. 1 seed. 1 since the NBA changed the 1st round of the 5-game series into the 7-game series. That is numerically the biggest disappointment in the history of the NBA game, with a 67-15 Mavericks record in 25 games better than 42-40 Warriors. Davis averages 25 points per game in this series.
Steve Kerr, then television analyst, called Davis's performance in the 2007 NBA Playoff "outrageous... fascinating athletic and creative and explosive." Davis playoff spotlights include lots of acrobatic layups, three-throat half-field batons, and impressive dunk over Andrei Kirilenko. Utah Jazz get rid of Warriors 4 games to 1. Davis averages 25.3 points, 6.5 assists, 2.9 steals, and 4.5 rebounds per game in the 2007 Playoff.
In 2008, during a playoff elimination match against the Phoenix Suns, Coach Nelson backed Davis in the first half for his poor game (shooting 2-13 in 17 minutes). Down fourteen in half, the Warriors lost six points. Some sports writers criticized Nelson's decision to put his team's star with the remaining half left to play; other authors speculate about the possible friction between Davis and Nelson, which Nelson rejected. After the 2007-08 season, where the Warriors narrowly declined from the playoff bout despite a 48-34 record (led by Davis - who remains injury-free throughout the season - with an average of 21.8 PPG, 7.6 assists, 2.3 steals , 4.6 RPG), Davis agent Todd Ramasar stated that Davis might opt ââout of his contract with the Warriors, who will pay him $ 17.8 million, to pursue other options. On June 30, 2008, Davis opted out of his contract with the Golden State Warriors.
Los Angeles Clippers (2008-2011)
On July 1, 2008, Davis verbally approved a 5-year deal, $ 65 million to play for his home team, the Los Angeles Clippers, and formally signed a contract with the Clippers on July 10, 2008. Davis initially decided to join the Clippers. with the intent of playing with Elton Brand, but Brand surprisingly opted out of his contract to sign a contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. After formally signing a contract with the Clippers, Davis said that Brand's departure had no impact on his decision to come to Los Angeles.
Prior to the arrival of Davis, the Clippers had never won their division or conference, and only advanced past the first round of playoffs twice since entering the league in 1970. Davis promised to change that, and despite the departure of Brand, Clippers fans remain eager to have a star that can compete with the popularity of crosstown rival Kobe Bryant.
Davis's first year with the Clippers was marked by a series of injuries and disappointments, as the Clippers fought for a 19-63 record in which Davis could only play 65 games, and saw his points per game average and the percentage of field goals taking sharp declines. Nevertheless, Davis did produce some bright spots this year. On November 22, he scored 30 points and handed out 10 assists in a game against the New Jersey Nets. He also has a pair of 20-ass games this year.
On November 20, 2009, at home games vs. Denver Nuggets, Baron grabbed and surpassed 5,000 assists mark. In his third year with the Clippers, the fresh and healthy Davis saw some success playing with Eric Gordon's children, DeAndre Jordan and Rookie of the Year Blake Griffin. While Davis finally demonstrated the ability that prompted Clippers management to sign him, run-in with Clippers coaching staff and owner Donald Sterling and the team's decision to become younger and rebuild, the Clippers decided to move in a new direction..
On February 24, 2011, Davis traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers along with a first-round pick (which turned out to be the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, Kyrie Irving), in exchange for Mo Williams and Jamario Moon. This trade to Cleveland marked the reunion between Davis and former coach Byron Scott, cited by Davis as "I know we are together for a reason." There are a few things my play can play just by playing on the system. Davis chose not to wear. 85 to honor his grandparents who raised him in Los Angeles and whose house is on 85th Street. In his debut with the Cavs, Baron scored 18 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, 5 assists and made four three-point shots, in a win over the New York Knicks.
Despite joining the Cavaliers team which at the time of trading had the worst record in the NBA (which included a record of 26 consecutive games), Davis helped the Cavaliers close the season with several wins, including a 102-90 upset victory over LeBron James and Miami Heat, to ensure that Cleveland did has the worst record in the league at the end of the season.
On December 14, 2011, the Cavaliers freed Davis through an amnesty clause. He still earns $ 30 million over the two remaining years on his contract, but that does not count against Cleveland's salary cap. The Cavaliers have designed Kyrie Irving with their first overall pick, and want to give him a starting point point keeper, allowing Davis to find early work on competing teams. The Knicks, Heat, and Lakers were on the market for point guard at the time. The New York Knicks (2011-2012)

On January 15, 2016, he signed a contract to play in the NBA Development League, and on March 2, he was acquired by Delaware 87ers. Two days later, he made his D-League debut in a 114-106 loss to Iowa Energy, scoring eight points, one rebound, four assists and three steals in 19 minutes off the bench.
