The bifurcated ligament internal calcaneocuboid , interosseous ligament or bifurcation ligament ) is a strong band, attached at the back to the deep basin at the upper surface of the calcaneus and divide in front in a Y-shaped way into the calcaneocuboid and calcaneonavicular portion.

  • The calcaneocuboid ligament (ligamentum calcaneocuboideum ) is fixed to the medial side of the cube and forms one of the main bonds between the first and second rows of the tarsal bone.
  • The calcaneonavicular ligament ( ligamentum calcaneonaviculare ) is attached to the lateral side of the navicular.

Usually injury to sprain-type inversion injury results in avulsion fractures in the calcaneal anterolateral process.
