Noel Thomas David Gallagher (born May 29, 1967) is a British singer, songwriter and guitarist. He served as lead guitarist, lead vocalist and main songwriter of the British rock band Oasis. Raised in Burnage, Manchester, Gallagher began studying guitar at the age of thirteen. After a series of side jobs in the field of construction, he worked for local band Manchester Inspiral Carpets as a roadie and technician in 1988. During the tour with them, he learned that his brother Liam Gallagher had formed his own band, known as Rain, Oasis. After Gallagher returned to England, he was invited by his brother to join Oasis as songwriter and guitarist.

Oasis debut album, Definitely Maybe (1994), marks the beginning of the resurrection the band became famous as part of the Britpop movement. Oasis second album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995), reaching the top of the album charts in many countries and their third studio album, Be Here Now (1997), became the best-selling album in UK chart history. Britpop eventually declined in popularity and two subsequent albums Oasis failed to revive. However, the band's last two albums, Do not Believe the Truth (2005) and Dig Out Your Soul (2008), were hailed as their best endeavors in more than a decade. and find new success. On August 28, 2009, after a fight with Liam before a gig in Paris, Noel Gallagher announced his departure from Oasis and on October 23, 2009, he confirmed that he would start a solo career. Gallagher will continue to form Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, with whom he has released three studio albums.

Gallagher's trip with Oasis was marked by turbulence, especially during the height of Britpop, where he was involved in several disputes with Liam, and his brothers and wildlife fights regularly made headlines in British tabloid newspapers. Gallagher (along with Oasis) also shares personal rivalry with fellow band Britpop Blur. However, he is often regarded as the spearhead of the Britpop movement, and at one point in time, NME termed a number of Britpop bands (including Kula Shaker, Ocean Color Scene and Cast) as "Noelrock", citing Gallagher's influence on success they. Many praised Gallagher's songwriting, with George Martin claiming to be 'the best songwriter of his generation'. In 2012, he belongs to one of British cultural icons selected by artist Sir Peter Blake to appear in a new version of his most famous work - The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover - to celebrate the British cultural figure in his life.

Instead, Gallagher was voted the most overrated guitarist of the last millennium in a 1999 fellow player poll, and the ninth-most overrated ever in a 2002 audience survey - he quoted the first as the most he enjoyed.

Gallagher was born in Longsight, Manchester, to Irish Catholic parents Peggy and Thomas Gallagher. Besides Liam, he also has a brother named Paul. Not long after the birth of Liam in 1972, Gallaghers moved to Ashburn Avenue on the outskirts of Manchester, Burnage. Gallagher had an unhappy childhood. He and his brothers are often beaten by their father, who is an alcoholic, and he is often closed. Liam described him as "a freak in the family". Because of their anxiety around their father, he and Paul both developed stuttering. As the eldest, Paul is given a room for himself, and Noel is forced to share with Liam.

Peggy Gallagher received legal notification of separation from her husband in 1976. Six years later, she finally left him, bringing the three boys with him. As a teenager, the Gallagher brothers (notably Noel) are regular absentees, often getting into trouble with the police. When her mother worked in the school cafeteria, Gallagher made sure she stopped by to visit her at lunch before spending the rest of the day. He was expelled from school at the age of 15 for throwing a bag of flour over a teacher. He often mixed with the Maine Line Crew, Under-5s, and Young Guvnors football hooligan companies in the 1980s, and at the age of 13, he received a six-month probation for robbing a corner shop. During this probation, with little else to do, he first started teaching himself to play the guitar his father left behind, playing his favorite songs from the radio. Gallagher was especially inspired by Smiths' debut at Top of the Pops in 1983, performing the single "This Charming Man". He then reflects that "since that day... [he] wants to be Johnny Marr". He also appeared (and scored) for Manchester Gaelic footwear CLG OisÃÆ'n at Croke Park, Dublin in 1983.

As teenagers, the Gallagher brothers maintained limited contact with their father to get a job under construction. However, the relationship between father and son continues to surge; Gallagher said that "because we always fight, we will still work at nine every night". After leaving his father's building company, he took a job at another building company subcontracted to British Gas. There he suffered an injury when a heavy hat from a steel gas pipe landed on his right foot. After the healing period, Gallagher was offered a less physically demanding role in the corporate warehouse, taking time for him to practice guitar and compose songs. He claimed to have written at least three songs in Definitely Maybe in this warehouse (including "Live Forever" and "Columbia"). He then phoned the "Hit Hut" warehouse and claimed the walls were painted in gold. Most of the late 1980s found Gallagher unemployed and staying in bed, occupying his time with drug use, songwriting, and guitar playing. He was left-handed, but played with his right hand.

In May 1988, Gallagher met guitarist Graham Lambert of Inspiral Carpets during the Stone Roses performance. Both got acquainted and Gallagher became a regular at the Inspiral Carpet show. When he heard singer Steve Holt leave the band, Gallagher auditioned to become a new vocalist. He was rejected, but became part of their street crew for two years. He started a friendship with monitor engineer Mark Coyle for their love of The Beatles, and both spent soundcheck to dissect group songs.

Career with Oasis

Join the band

In 1991, Gallagher returned from an American tour with Inspiral Carpets to discover that his brother Liam had become a singer with a local band called Rain. He attended one of their concerts at the Boardwalk of Manchester, but was not impressed by the group action. After declining an offer from Liam to become a band manager, Gallagher agreed to join the band, on condition that he take the creative control of the group and become the only songwriter. According to other sources, Gallagher told Liam and the rest of the group after hearing them play for the first time: "Let me write your song and I'll take you to a superstardom, or you'll rot here in Manchester". His mastery over the band in his early years earned him the nickname "The Chief".

In May 1993, the band heard that a recording executive from Creation Records would be looking for talent at King Tut in Glasgow. Together, they find the money to rent a car and travel six hours. When they arrived, they were denied entry to the club because no one told the place that Oasis had been added to the bill. The band finally secured the opening slot and played a set of four songs that impressed the founder of Creation Alan McGee.

McGee then took a recording of Live Demonstration to Sony America and invited Oasis to meet him a week later in London, at which time they signed with six albums. Gallagher has since claimed that he has only six songs written at the time, and has put his success in interviews until "nonsense". However, McGee believes that when they meet, Gallagher has fifty songs written, and only lies about how productively he follows the contract. Richard Ashcroft was very impressed with Oasis over the years, that he invited them to tour with his band Verve as an opening act.

Gallagher claims to have written Oasis's first single, "Supersonic", in "the time it took to play the song." "Supersonic" was released in early 1994 and peaked at No.31 on the official UK charts. The single was later followed by Oasis' debut album Definitely Maybe, released in August 1994 and was a critical and commercial success.

It became the best-selling debut album in British history then, and entered the UK charts at number one. Despite their rapidly growing popularity, Gallagher briefly left Oasis in 1994 during their first American tour. His condition is bad, and he feels the American audience - still engrossed in grunge and metal - do not understand the band. Gallagher stated that his early songs, especially "Live Forever", were written to disprove grunge pessimism. Tensions increased between him and Liam, culminating in the fight after the L.A. show. After effectively deciding to get out of the music industry, he flies to San Francisco without telling the band, management or crew. It was at this point that Gallagher wrote "Talk Tonight" as a "thank you" to the girl who lived with him, who "persuaded him from the ledge". He was tracked by Abbot Team Creation and during the trip by the couple to Las Vegas, Gallagher decided to continue with the band. He made peace with his brother and the tour continued in Minneapolis.

Britpop and height of fame

Gallagher followed up on his debut in 1995 with Britain's first UK number one, one in "Some Might Say". This precedes their second album, What's the Story (Morning Glory)? , released later that year. Despite his critical early apathy, the album became the second best-selling album ever in the UK, entering the UK album charts at number one and peaking at number four on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Oasis's success and his new fame and fortune did not disappear in Gallagher, and he and his brother became famous for their "rock and roll lifestyle". They drink a lot, abuse drugs, fight fans, critics, peers, and each other, and make celebrity friends like Ian Brown, Paul Weller, Mani, Mick Jagger, Craig Cash, Kate Moss, and Johnny Depp. Gallagher spends a lot of money, buying cars and swimming pools, despite the fact that he can not drive, or swim. She named her home in Belsize Park in London "Supernova Heights" (after the song "Champagne Supernova"), and her two cats "Benson" and "Hedges" after her favorite cigarette brand. "He's afraid this is true, he's also afraid that he's very tall during the 90s and drunk almost all the time.He can only tell you that it's a very brilliant time of his life, and he's named after all, the cat after the cigarette, though... One of the better moments he has to say. "

Oasis went on to have more success with the next two singles, "Wonderwall" and "Do not Look Back in Anger" respectively at number two and number one; the first being their only top 10 hit in the US. Initially, Noel wanted to take the lead vocals in "Wonderwall", but Liam insisted on singing it. As compensation, he decided he would sing the lead vocals in "Do not Look Back in Anger". 1995 also saw Gallagher play two songs for charity Help! Ã,: "Fade Away", accompanied by friends and fans of Oasis Johnny Depp and ex-girlfriend Depp Kate Moss; and hit The Beatles in 1969 "Come Together", along with Paul Weller, Paul McCartney, and others in a supergroup called Smokin 'Mojo Filters. He began collaborating with Chemical Brothers, Ian Brown, the Stands, the Prodigy and Weller, among others. Gallagher became so influential that the June 1996 article NME argued that "If Noel Gallagher, the most successful songwriter of his generation, group winner, then the group is guaranteed more praise and, more likely, more sales and because Noel has taken to fight for only five or six groups, so it's a powerful plot he's promoting. "The NME articles are grouped praising the Gallagher band, including Boo Radleys, Ocean Color Scene, and Cast, under the banner "Noelrock". John Harris symbolizes these bands, and Gallagher, sharing "teary love in the 1960s, who rolled away beyond the most basic rocks, and the belief in the supremacy of 'real music'".

In March 1996, Gallagher and his brother Liam met with their father again when the News of the World paid him to go to their hotel during the tour. He went to his room, then commented "as far as I know, I have no father, he is not a father to me, you know? I do not respect him in any way". In August 1996, Oasis sold out two nights at Knebworth, playing for over 250,000 fans. Following the success of Morning Glory worldwide, Be Here Now (1997) became Oasis' most anticipated album to date. Like the two previous albums, all the songs were written by Gallagher. After initial publicity, positive critical reviews, and commercial success, the album failed to meet long-term expectations, and the public goodwill toward Be Now Now was short-lived. The album was eventually perceived by many as a fat and over-indulgent Oasis version, which Gallagher has since blamed on the drug-addicted country and the band's indifference at the time. While this album is a record-breaker, sold 813,000 copies in seven days, Gallagher has been critical of the album's popularity, saying: "Just because you sell a lot of notes, it does not mean saying you're any good Look at Phil Collins."

Gallagher began to suffer panic attacks of drugs during this period. Depression and paranoid welfare inspired the song "Gas Panic!", Later incorporated into the 2000 album Standing on the Giants Shoulder . He claimed to have stopped using illegal drugs on June 5, 1998. Gallagher stated in 2001, "I like drugs, I am good at them but I have a panic attack for about a year and I quit because I want to.After you make a decision , it's pretty easy. "Between 1993 and 1998, Gallagher claimed," I can barely remember anything. "

The post-Britpop year

Once the hype surrounding the release of Be Here Now has begun to dwindle, the critical response to the band has become more calm and more considered, leading to media reactions. In 1997, Gallagher was criticized for attending a high profile, well-publicized media party on 10 Downing Street, hosted by the newly appointed Prime Minister, Tony Blair, along with celebrities and other industry figures who have supported the New Labor in the election general. Both Liam's sister and Blur Damon Albarn declined their invitation, with Albarn commenting, "Enjoy schmooze, mate." The perception of Gallagher as someone who now mixes with politicians - or, in particular, his famous photos sipping champagne with Blair - is in conflict with the status of "working class heroes" championed through songs like "Up in the Sky".

In 1999, rhythm guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs left the band, with bassist Paul McGuigan coming soon. As a result, the fourth studio album, Standing on the Shoulder Giants , was recorded by Gallaghers and drummer Alan White, with Gallagher playing all parts of the guitar. He then commented on Bonehead's departure, "Hardly Paul McCartney left the Beatles, right?". After the recording session is over, Gallagher chooses Gem Archer to join Bonehead.

Later that year Alan McGee decided to leave Creation and sell the remaining 51% of his shares in the label to Sony. Gallagher took this opportunity to set up Big Brother Recordings, which took over Oasis distribution in the UK, but Sony recorded Epic Records continued to handle the band's international distribution. Around the time of the album's release, Andy Bell, formerly of Ride, joined the band as a bassist. In 2001, Gallagher formed his own label, Sour Mash Records, which released recordings by people like Shack and Proud Mary. The merger of this label follows Gallagher's debut as a producer, working with Proud Mary on their debut, The Old Blues the Same .

In late 2006, Gallagher toured in England, Europe, Japan, America, and Australia in a series of intentional semi-acoustic performances, accompanied by Gem Archer and Terry Kirkbride on percussion. The event proved successful and a series of subsequent sets were held in 2007. In March 2007 saw Gallagher perform in Moscow - the first time an Oasis member performed in Russia. But Gallagher dismissed claims that he plans to start a solo career. In early 2007, Gallagher joined the rest of the Oasis to garner the "Extraordinary Contribution to Music" Award at the 2007 Brit Awards.

Gallagher, along with the band recorded their seventh studio album between 2007 and the following year at Abbey Road Studios and in Los Angeles, and began at the end of the 2008 summer tour which lasted 12 months.

In March 2009, The Times along with iTunes released a direct recording option by Noel Gallagher taken from his semi-acoustic show at Royal Albert Hall on March 27, 2007 in Teenage Cancer Trust help. The Dreams We Have as Children feature classic and rare songs from the Oasis canon along with several cover versions of some of Gallagher's favorite artists.

Departure from band

On August 28, 2009, Gallagher quit Oasis after a fight with his brother, Liam. Just before midnight on Friday, Gallagher posted a statement on his message board titled "Tales from the Middle of Nowhere" on the band's website announcing his departure.

In an interview with NME in 2014 while promoting his debut solo album Everyday Robots , Damon Albarn hinted at a collaboration project with Gallagher. Despite years of hostilities during Blur's and Oasis's heyday, Albarn said: "We're talking. This is not something that excites me, I mean, he's doing it He's finishing a new record I have" We're out, but our principles making music together is something, you know. It's fair to say, we've covered it at least once. "

Relationships

In 1988, he moved from his family home to live with Louise Jones, whom he described as "his soul mate" and for whom he wrote "Slide". They had relationships again and again before separating in June 1994, with Gallagher stating, "I do not think I'll ever forget it."

In June 1997, Gallagher married Meg Mathews in Las Vegas, Nevada. He had met him in 1994 through his roommate, MTV presenter Rebecca de Ruvo, whom he dated at the time and which he left behind for Mathews. Mathews gave birth to a daughter, AnaÃÆ'¯s Gallagher, on January 27, 2000. Gallagher and Mathews divorced in January 2001 on the basis of adultery with Scottish publicist Sara MacDonald. After the divorce settled, Gallagher admitted that he only claimed to have cheated to speed up the divorce process and that he never really was unfaithful.

Since his separation with Mathews, Gallagher has been in contact with Sara MacDonald, whom he met at the Space club in Ibiza in June 2000. He wrote "Pending Rapture" about their meetings. He is a friend of former City midfielder Joey Barton, as well as Italian striker Alessandro Del Piero, who described Gallagher as Italy's "lucky mascot" during the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and appeared in the "Lord Do not Slow Me Down" Oasis video. Gallagher with Kasabian guitarist Sergio Pizzorno took part in the draw team for the FA Cup third round of 2011. Despite this statement, throughout his career, many of his songs have mentioned God ("Carry Us All", "Gas Panic !," "The Hindu Times" and "Little by Little"), and all the songs he contributed to Dig Out Your Soul, as well as other bandmates songs, have lyrics and references to God and other biblical terms. Dig Your Soul has been described by Gallagher as "Religious Armageddon". But in a recent interview to Dig Your Soul about religion, he stated, "Look, I do not know who I am. Songwriting and music

Gallagher is the main songwriter at Oasis, and on the first three albums, he is the only songwriter. He is often criticized for the compliments he gives for his own songs. He shows "If you write 'Live Forever', you'll run into a different tune the next day as well." Gallagher is often accused by critics for plagiarizing the music of his heroes, but he has maintained his direct respect in his music is his intention. In the 1996 interview Guitar World , he described himself as a "songwriting fan" and stated, "I'm not saying, 'I'm the greatest songwriter in the world.Listen to me.Usually, I say, i> This is the greatest songwriter in the world and I will put it all into this song ". Her response to critics on the topic of "flashy riffs" was, "No, I do not feel guilty, but you're upset because you did not do it first."

Though naturally left-handed, Gallagher plays the guitar with his right hand, which he says is the only thing he can do with his non-dominant hand. Gallagher says he sometimes does not understand his own lyrics, commenting in 2005 that "when I'm halfway 'Do not Look Back in Anger' I said to myself 'I still do not know what these words mean!'". In 2017, Gallagher reflects "There's a little bit of truth in that statement, like a little in" Champagne Supernova "about slowly walking down the aisle faster than the cannon ball. What does that mean? And the answer is, I do not know what it means I do not care what it means It must be something, because I play it in people's oceans every night and they seem to understand it.It's what matters, I think. "Gallagher has declared to be dyslexic, which slows down the process of writing his song, nor can he read or write music.

Change dynamic band

Gallagher's role as the main songwriter for Oasis changed over time as he allowed a greater level of lyrical input from other band members. Standing on the Giants Shoulder includes Oasis's first album song written by his brother Liam. Chemistry Gymnastics includes three more songs by Liam (including singles "Songbird"), one by Archer and one by Andy Bell. Do not Believe the Truth featured three other songs by Liam (though one of them, "Love Like a Bomb" written together with Archer), one from Archer, and two from Bell. The last two albums have been greeted with increased critical and commercial success in the UK, especially the Do Not Believe the Truth. But the second single from Do not Believe the Truth , "The Importance of Being Idle" became the second Oasis song sung by Gallagher to the top of the UK charts and was named the best song of 2005 by Q magazine, and was nominated for the "Best Song of 2005" NME ' award.

However, on the last Oasis album, his increasing role as a lead singer, seems to offset his diminishing role as a songwriter, causing tension with Liam.

Zak Starkey, the son of former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr and previous drummer for the hero Gallagher, Who and Johnny Marr, replaced the old drummer Alan White during the recording sessions for Do not Believe the Truth. The disappearance of White encouraged Gallagher to comment in a 2005 interview, that he put the Oasis problem with the drummer, in part, on the fact that he himself was a talented drummer, saying "I get lots of sticks for that, but I'm the best drummer in the group."

Controversy

Gallagher is known for his controversial and outspoken remarks in the press; He acknowledges his tendency to carelessness in the song "My Big Mouth" on the album Be Here Now . But Gallagher defends himself, saying "people think [I] is controversial for the answers I give to silly questions in interviews, but... I do not think about insulting... people; I say what I really It's in my heart, my conscience is clean, you know what I mean? You know, I'm honest with myself - making love to other people. "

Damon Albarn and Blur

Gallagher's most famous controversial statement was in a 1995 interview with The Observer, in which he expressed a desire for Damon Albarn and Alex James from rivals Blur to "catch AIDS and die", a comment he quickly requested apologize openly, and stated that "AIDS is not a laughing stock". This statement was preceded by the success of Morning Glory's (What's the Story)? , which led to a well-documented dispute with fellow band Britpop Blur. The different styles of the band, coupled with their superiority in the Britpop movement, led the British media to seize the competition between the bands. The two factions played together, with Gallaghers mocking Blur at the 1996 BRIT Awards by singing the song "Parklife" when they collected the "Best British Band" award (with Liam converting the lyrics to "Shite-life").

Gallagher argues that the rivalry is conceived by the NME magazine and members of the Blur troop as a tactic to enhance their respective profiles, and that from this point on he has no respect for either party. However, Albarn has suggested a much more personal root of hostility. In 2007, the tension between the two has cooled, and in an interview NME , Gallagher says, "I really respect Damon, I really mean it.Because I do not care about Damon, he thinks I think he's a prostitute Liam we'll talk to him I will not do it because he's just another singer in the band for me but I do not think he's a coward Hope he's lucky! "On March 23, 2013, Gallagher, Damon, Graham Coxon, and Paul Weller performs a Blur hit "Tender" in the Teenage Cancer Trust. Gallagher provided vocal support for "We Got the Power" song with Blur guitarist Graham Coxon, on the Gorillaz Albarn project, from their album Humanz .

Liam Gallagher

The Gallagher brothers are known for sharing a turbulent relationship; one of their arguments was even released in 1995 a pirated one titled Wibbling Rivalry . Although in recent years their relationship has stabilized, during the band's early career there were several incidents where both actually came to blows. In the show L.A. during their first American tour in 1994, Liam took to change the words of the songs so they offended America and Noel. The confrontation after the show that caused the seat was thrown and the fight caused him to leave the tour and headed to Las Vegas; Gallagher later claimed that he had "a view of the Fear and Hate that blinked in his eyes". During the recording sessions for the second Oasis album, What's the Story (Morning Glory)? , the brothers fought a fierce fight involving cricket bats, when Liam invited everyone from a local pub back to the studio while he was trying to work. In 1995, Noel was required to sing "Wonderwall" on Later... with Jools Holland when Liam failed to show up.

In 1996, he gave a lead vocal on an appearance for MTV Unplugged when Liam retired a few minutes before the set began. Liam claimed to have been hit with a "sore throat"; the band later discovered that Liam did not like to perform acoustically. Gallagher got angrier when Liam started scolding him from the balcony and treating his "sore throat" with beer and cigarettes as the band performed. Just before the band was about to board a plane to the United States for an important American tour, Liam left the airport, claiming that he had to find a home for his wife, Patsy Kensit. He then joined the band for some of their last performances and the famous MTV Awards; the remaining date is canceled. The band's future is tabloid news daily.

While on tour in Barcelona in 2000, Oasis was forced to cancel the show when Alan White's arm was confiscated, and the band spent the night drinking it. Liam made derogatory remarks about Gallagher's wife Meg Mathews, and attempted to doubt the validity of his daughter Anais, causing Gallagher to become Liam's heads. After this, he declared he quit the overseas tour, but returned for the Oasis show in Dublin on July 8, 2000. During the show, the two brothers shook hands at the end of "Acquiesce."

However, the relationship between the two brothers became tense throughout 2009, which eventually led to the last-minute cancellation of an Oasis concert scheduled to take place on August 28, 2009 in Paris, due to "contention in the group." That night, Gallagher confirmed that he had left Oasis because he "could not keep working with Liam one day longer." Through the Oasis website, he said, "It's with a bit of sadness and a great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight." On August 29, Gallagher expanded further on his blog, stating "the level of verbal and violent intimidation against me, my family, friends and friends has become intolerable and the lack of support and understanding from my management and my bandmates has left I have no choice but to make me cape and look for new meadows. "

When asked in 2012 about his brother and Oasis Gallagher reunion said, "I last sent Liam on Christmas Day after City game I do not think it will happen This will be great for everyone except me This will be a mega for millions and millions and the other person would be very brilliant but I would not be very happy about that.I guess you do not know what you would feel like in 20s years, but now, I mean I was in Oasis for almost 20 years I have done this what which I do now for a year and I want to see how it feels to do it longer I do not think anyone pushed a reunion No one raised it in seriousness - I mean Liam is not open but he says things openly I will not consider what he said seriously. "After their Wonderwall appearance at the London Olympic Closing Ceremony ( which Gallagher initially rejected), he calls the band Liam Beady Eye as 'the best Oasis tribute band in Stratford'.

In December 2017 during an interview for the Australian newspaper, Liam revealed that he and Noel had called the "truce." But in February 2018, Liam revealed that the truce did not really happen and that it was "inside his head" after "some drinks"

Jay-Z and Glastonbury

Gallagher reportedly criticized the 2008 Glastonbury Festival organizers for scheduling US hip-hop artist Jay-Z as headliner for a traditional festival driven by a guitar: "If it's not broken, do not fix it.If you start destroying it then people will not go. , but Jay-Z? No chance.. Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the ball curved inside on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?' I do not know about it, But I do not have hip-hop in Glastonbury, that's wrong. "

Emily Eavis, the organizer of the festival, said she respected Jay-Z was headlining the event saying: "He's really the right move for our festival," he said. "There's no reason why we should not have the greatest hip-hop artist in Glastonbury." Eavis also mentioned that Jay-Z is far from the first hip-hop artist to appear in Glastonbury. The Roots, Cypress Hill, and De La Soul had previously performed at the Glastonbury Festival.

In response, Jay-Z said, "We do not play guitar, Noel, but hip-hop has put in its work like any other musical form. The main show is just a natural progression Rap music is still growing From Africa Bambaataa DJ-ing in the Bronx and Run DMC will be platinum, for Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince winning the first Grammy rap, I'm just in the next row.We must respect the music genres of each and move forward. "

Jay-Z opened his set at Glastonbury 2008 with cover song Oasis "Wonderwall". When Gallagher was asked about the incident he answered, "The way to play itself is that I say Jay-Z has no right to play Glastonbury, which is a crock of horseshit.I got off the plane and someone asked me about the fact that Glastonbury is not sold out for the first time in years, and if it was because of Jay-Z. From there it grew into this nonsense so I stood on the orange trunk in Speakers 'Corner said,' Gathered, brothers and sisters.Have you heard what happened at Glastonbury this year? 'I have a certain phrase change, so if I say, "The chicken sandwich at McDonald's is completely wrong," it does not mean I attack all the chickens or all the sandwiches I've mixed with Jay-Z in Tokyo, I've seen the show, not my bag, but it's okay, we have friends together in Chris Martin, so I'm a person who does not like hip-hop - shock, horror. I do not like rappers or hip-hop or people who love it I went to the Def Jam tour in Manchester in the 80s when rap was inspirational. Public enemy is amazing. But it's all about status and bling now, and it does not say anything to me. "When Jay-Z was asked about Gallagher's comment, he said," I have not talked to him [Gallagher], I heard him reach out, I do not revenge, it's all good. You see every interview from the beginning of time, I always state that I do not believe in the lines and classifications that people enter music so they can easily define it. "When asked who would be interested in collaborating in the future, the rapper said, "Anyone, Oasis too - it does not matter to me."

Phil Collins

Gallagher often criticizes Phil Collins. He has said that Collins's work is bland and the opposite of what he strives for, as far as saying "People hate cunts like Phil Collins, and if not, they should be!" and called Collins "anti-christ." Prior to the 2005 election, Gallagher stated that he still supported the Labor government partly because of his worries that "Phil Collins threatened to come back and stay here and let's face it, none of us wants that."

Collins has responded by saying that Gallagher "likes to corner me," and that the Gallagher brothers are "rude and not as talented as they think." Collins appeared on the TV show Room 101 and was nominated to send Gallagher.

Political view

Gallagher has talked about his political views on several occasions, especially when he visited Tony Blair at No. 10 Downing Street in 1997. In an interview in 1997 when he was asked about why he visited Blair he replied, "I have taken many things to go to No. 10 Downing Street but the problem is, I never consider myself a rebel.I do not go there representing 'Indie community' I am not representing anyone I will go there for me You have to understand that since I went to school and since I was born, what we once knew was a conservative, Tory, a right-wing government What people do not say is, they say, 'He went to see Tony Blair.' No. I went to see the Prime Minister. encourage us that the Labor Party is for the people and the Tory Party not.I went to see the Labor prime minister. "

Gallagher has been quoted as saying: "Politics is like football to me, Labor is my team and even if you do not like strikers, you do not give up supporting the whole team.Practors are the lower of the two crimes. What else should we have? Anarchy? must be responsible. "

In an interview in 2007 when asked about politics he said, "I have been unemployed all my life. This is a big problem for me when they (Labor) come in. Now David Cameron is no different from Tony Blair and Gordon Brown is no different from David Cameron They are all cut out of the same fabric and it bothers me that the biggest political icon in the last 30 years is Margaret Thatcher, Someone who tries to destroy the working class, scares me, does not really think there is nothing left to choose. , as a person, can only change things once every 5 years and that's by voting, and my point is that even casting sounds means that the same person comes in, the only difference is one has a red tie and the other has a blue color. "

Gallagher excited in his support for Barack Obama's successful bid for US President, called for his acceptance speech to the 2008 Democratic National Convention "fascinating".

In 1997, he played a set of 5 songs at the Tibetan Freedom Concert in New York City. As a result, Oasis is considered "unworthy" by the Chinese government, forcing a planned tour of the country in 2009 to be canceled.

Gallagher is also very vocal about knife crime. In 2008 he was quoted as saying: "The bastard took over the road, I do not know what David Cameron and Gordon Brown will do, it's all back to Thatcher's years It sounds like a cliche, but it's rotting." When the interviewer suggested for his status replied, "In my day status it is about trying to be someone, not trying to kill someone, so how does it all change?"

In October 2011, Gallagher told Newsnight he believed that the current Labor leader Ed Miliband was "really boring and boring," and said he did not know what he was fighting for.

Speaking of the August 2011 Rioting in Britain, Gallagher stated, "Last August I was on a tour of Europe and people were asking me about the unrest, all over the world, Syria and Egypt, people rioting for freedom, "Gallagher claims that violent video games and violent television shows that children are being partially blamed for social problems.

In February 2012, it implies that Britain under the Premier League Margaret Thatcher is a more fertile place for differences in art: "Under Thatcher, who rules us with iron rods, great art is made." Designers and musicians are incredible. born, very colorful and progressive Now nothing to say 'Write a song? No thanks, I'll say it on Twitter.' It's a sad state when more people are retweeting than buying a note. "

In a February 2015 interview with The Quietus , Gallagher outlined his disappointment with the current politicians and how they would do anything to say they were just ordinary people:

And now Conservative just... I mean [...] David Cameron, he's trying to be your partner. "Oh, I really like Jam."

Gallagher then goes on to say that Thatcher is brutal but more direct, and "you can appreciate that."

In 2016, Gallagher stated that when he remained left-wing, he opposed Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn, regarded him as a communist. He said that "the Tory do not care about those who are vulnerable, and the communists are not concerned with aspirations."

Music supplies

Throughout his career, Gallagher has used a variety of guitars, effect pedals, and amplifiers from his vast collection. Most of it emerged from the Standing on the Shoulders Giants session, where he decided to drop the equipment used in his previous three albums and instead buy "lots of really weird pedals, old guitars, and small amps. , "Due to the lack of deadlines for submitting the album, allowing Gallagher to" take quite a few days is just a joke. "

Guitar

Electric guitar
  • Epiphone Les Paul - Gallagher played a cherry sunburst model in the early years of Oasis.
  • Gibson Les Paul
  • Fender Telecaster - Gallagher uses several, one of them, a 60s model, given to Noel by Johnny Depp as a birthday gift.
  • Epiphone Casino
  • Gibson ES-355 Vintage Model - Since 2001, it has become Gallagher's main stage guitar.

Pedal effect

In the early days of Oasis, Gallagher did not use the pedal: "I used to just turn on the full amps I could get." Since then, he started using a large number of effects, but was chosen by Ibanez Tube Screamer.

Amplification

Gallagher said that he only used the 100-watt Marshalls early in his career. After Definitely Maybe , he starts using smaller amps, chooses Fenders (Princeton and Bandmaster), as well as combo made by Clark Amplification, which builds amplifiers based on classic Fender and Marshall amps.
