The Book of Quantum is a general guideline for the level of compensation that a person may be given in a personal injury suit in the Republic of Ireland. It was first published in June 2004 and the revised version was published in October 2016. The Irish Court has a legal requirement to refer to the Book when assessing damage related to injury, and the Book is also used by the Personal Injury Assessment Board (PIAB) in its assessment. The revised general guidelines are drawn up by international consultants based on data from the Court, the State Claim Board, insurance settlements and PIAB assessments.
