The Body Bag Game is a Monday Night Football game played on November 12, 1990, between the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins at Veterans Stadium. Eagles beat the Redskins, 28-14. His nickname stems from the fact that nine players of the Washington Redskins left the game with an injury, and an Eagles player reacted to one of the wounded Redskins by yelling, "Do you need another body bag?"

Backgrounds and games
This is the second game of the year between two rivals NFC East. The Redskins two years removed from the Super Bowl XXII win, but the old team, behind the new quarterback, Jeff Rutledge. The Eagles were in their fifth season under defensive midfielder Buddy Ryan, but came from two early straight playoff exits. In the previous game, on October 21, the Redskins 3-2 beat 2-3 Eagles 13-7, behind an accelerated touchdown by Gerald Riggs and two Lohmiller Chip field goals. The rematch will come three weeks later, on Monday Night Football, with second place Redskins being 5-3 and Eagles third place is 4-4.
The Eagles will score the first goal, on a 30-yard interception feedback for a touchdown by cornerback William Frizzell. In the second quarter, the Redskins will link the game 7-7 behind Rutledge's bait to the tight end of Don Warren. However, in the third quarter, the Eagles took control with three goals. The first came with a game of trickery, with defender Keith Byars throwing a 9-yard pass into Heath Sherman. The second came through the defense, with defensive ending Clyde Simmons returning 18 yards off the mark. The final cover is another bait to Sherman, this time by quarterback Randall Cunningham. Redskins will finish the scorers in the fourth quarter, with Brian Mitchell scoring on a yard run, but that will not lead to a comeback, with the Eagles winning 28-14.
During this match, at least nine Redskin players were injured, including quarterback starting Jeff Rutledge and reserve Stan Humphries. Washington, already playing without midfielder Mark Rypien (who was injured early in the season) and Gary Hogeboom (inactive), had to end the game with rookie running back Brian Mitchell in the quarterback.

Aftermath
After the Body Bag Game, Eagles won five of their last seven under Cunningham, finishing the season 10-6 and clinching wild card play, fourth seed in the tough NFC. The Redskins meanwhile also won five of their last seven to finish the season 10-6, losing the spot number four seeds to the Eagles. Nevertheless, the Redskins will return to the Veterans Stadium and defeat the Eagles in the Wild Card playoff game, 20-6. The Redskins lost to defending champions San Francisco Super Bowl in the division round. However, as told in NFL Network America's Game: The Story of 1991 Washington Redskins show, coach Joe Gibbs and others point to this game as the basis for the 1991 Redskins success, which will go on to win the Super Bowl XXVI.
After the season, the NFL discussed the issue of two injured quarterbacks in the same game by instituting the rules of the third quarterback, which would allow the NFL team to dress third quarterbacks beyond the 45-person game-day list. Under the rule, a third quarterback can be played, but if he enters the game before the fourth quarter, none of the other quarterbacks can return to the game. The rules were changed again for the 2011 season when the size of the day's match list increased to 46.
Eminem referenced the game in his "Legacy" song at The Marshall Mathers LP 2 .
